Stump Grinding in Middleburg, FL

A leftover stump is a tripping hazard, a mower obstacle, and a spot where new sprouts keep coming back. River City Arbor Care grinds stumps out across Middleburg and Clay County so your yard is level and ready for what comes next.

Grinding depth that matters

A shallow grind leaves roots close to the surface that can still sprout or interfere with new landscaping. We grind below grade to a depth that clears the way for grass, mulch, or planting without the stump reappearing months later.

Chip backfill and cleanup

The wood chips produced by grinding are used to backfill the hole, then leveled off with the surrounding grade. The result is a workable surface, not a crater or a mound of debris left behind.

Replanting, sodding, and root systems

Once a stump is ground out, the site is ready for sod, seed, or a new planting if that's the goal. We also account for the extent of the root system in larger trees, since major roots can run well beyond the visible stump.

Stump grinding questions

How deep do you grind a stump?
We grind below grade — deep enough that roots near the surface won't sprout and the area is ready for grass or new planting, rather than just shaving the top off.
What happens to the wood chips?
We use them to backfill the ground stump and level the area with the surrounding yard. If you'd prefer the chips hauled away instead, just let us know.
Can I plant a new tree in the same spot?
Usually, yes, once the stump and major roots are ground out. For larger trees, some root remnants can extend beyond the stump itself, which we'll flag if it affects replanting.
Do you grind multiple stumps at once?
Yes. Whether it's one stump or several across the property, we can handle them all in the same visit and quote it accordingly.
